Tamar Valley Apple Juice produced at Duchy College

Tamar Grow Local pressed over 2.5 tonnes of apples this Autumn sourced from orchards across the Tamar Valley to make over 1400 litres of juice which will be sold under the Tamar Valley Apple Co-operative label.

This year’s pressing took place at the manufacturing and processing facilities at the Food Innovation Centre based at Duchy College, Stoke Climsland, where the juice was also able to be pasteurised and bottled. It was also an opportunity to speak to students about the heritage of orchards in the valley, Tamar Grow Local’s apple juice and the process of how the juice is made.

The hydraulic apple press used for the juicing was hired through Tamar Valley Orchard Volunteers. Tamar Valley Apple Juice is available to buy through www.tamarvalleyfoodhubs.org.uk, and for other stockists, please visit www.tamargrowlocal.org
