COMMUNITY HORTICULTURAL SHOW, CALL FOR ENTRIES!!

Following the success of last year’s event, Tamar Grow Local in conjunction with the National Trust will be running this again to celebrate local produce in the Tamar Valley!

The event will be on 13th September at Cotehele Quay, Cornwall between 12 noon and 5pm.

This year’s event will not only include local produce stalls, music, films, refreshments, exhibitions, and activities for all the family but also for the first time a community horticultural show open to all amateurs and allotment holders in the Tamar Valley.

The show will be judged by a number of horticultural experts including the National Trust Head Gardener, and there will be a number of prizes, including a heritage Tamar Valley Apple Tree, donated by Endsleigh Nursery prize for best overall entry!

As you will notice, the show includes some light-hearted categories, including for children, and places less emphasis on size, and more on taste and overall profusion!

We hope to see you there!

  1. Most unusual novelty category (fruit/ vegetable variety).
  2. Strangest shaped vegetable.
  3. Tastiest tomato.
  4. Biggest pumpkin.
  5. Vegetable animals (children under age of 12).
  6. Best Collection of salad (presented in a bowl).
  7. Best collection of root vegetables (presented on a plate/ bowl).
  8. Best Collection of fruit (presented on a plate/ bowl).
  9. Best collection of cut flowers (presented in a vase).
  10. Best collection of herbs (presented on a plate/ bowl).
  11. Group category- allotment sites, best overall entry to any of the above.

The entries should be delivered to the show room (Long Room in the Edgcumbe Arms, Cotehele Quay) at the Tamar Harvest event before 2.30pm. Judging will be made between 3.30 and 4.30pm.

Please ensure all entries are clearly marked showing the categories, name, and contact details.
